Producing eSAF at scale and at a competitive rate requires reliable access to renewable electricity, biogenic CO₂, and robust infrastructure. Näsudden offers all three — and more.
SkyKraft has secured a 23-hectare industrial site at Näsudden, with direct access to hydro and wind power from Sweden’s northernmost electricity price zone (SE1). The site is connected to the regional power grid and located near forest industries that provide a reliable supply of biogenic CO₂ with minimal transportation needs.

The eSAF production process generates surplus heat, which will be recovered through EcoLink, Skellefteå Kraft’s local heat recovery system. The recovered heat will replace biofuels in the district heating network — improving both climate impact and cost efficiency, while increasing resource circularity.

SkyKraft intends to submit its permit application in autumn 2025 for the production of up to 160,000 tonnes of hydrocarbons per year, with eSAF as the primary product. The facility is subject to approval under the Swedish Environmental Code, and statutory consultations (including Seveso) were conducted in spring 2025.
