SkyKraft is a joint venture between SkyNRG and Skellefteå Kraft, with the purpose of establishing a production facility for Electro- Sustainable Aviation Fuel (eSAF). Fully operational, the plant is expected to produce approximately 100,000 tonnes of eSAF annually.
By combining our expertise in renewable energy and sustainable aviation, we aim to accelerate the aviation industry’s green transition and strengthen Europe’s energy independence in the field of sustainable fuels.
Aircrafts are in service for over 20 years, which makes technological transitions slow and investments long-term. Thus, the aviation sector needs solutions compatible with today’s aircrafts and infrastructure. eSAF – a synthetic fuel – is key. It can be used in existing engines and reduces emissions by up to 90%.
EU’s ReFuelEU Aviation regulation mandates a gradual increase in the use of sustainable aviation fuels, driving demand up to 70% by 2050. SkyKraft merges Skellefteå Kraft’s large-scale renewable energy production with SkyNRG’s leadership in SAF, covering the full value chain – from production to market.

Skellefteå Kraft is one of Sweden’s largest energy companies, with its own production of wind, hydro, heat, and bioenergy. Through innovation, R&D, and investment in renewables, it drives the electrification of society.
SkyNRG is a global frontrunner in sustainable aviation fuels, working to build worldwide capacity for eSAF and helping the aviation industry meet climate targets through real emissions reductions.

Start of production and gradual ramp-up.
1-2033

Full-scale operations.
Under the ReFuelEU Aviation regulation, at least 6 percent of all jet fuel used in the EU must be sustainable by 2030, with a target of 70 precent by 2050. This creates a rapidly growing demand for eSAF across Europe. However, supply remains limited.
SkyKraft addresses this need with large-scale, fossil-free eSAF production in Sweden – fully aligned with climate goals, industrial needs, and the EU’s strategy for energy security.
